How Face ID will change in iPhone 13: new features, parts list and drawings
We already know that in terms of looks, the iPhone 13 will be pretty much the same as its predecessor. The changes will affect only some minor details: the thickness of the case, the location of the cameras in the younger models and the size of the notch in the screen. The notch will become smaller by reducing scan probes. It is unclear whether there will be fewer of them or Apple will simply make them more compact. However, the bottom line is that now there will be a little more usable space on the screen. Fortunately, this is not the only positive consequence of the upcoming change.Despite the fact that Face ID in iPhone 13 will be smaller, it will be able to recognize users even more effectively than the previous version. Insider John Prosser that Apple's next-generation facial recognition system will be able to recognize users, even if their face is hidden behind goggles or a medical mask.Apple engineers have specifically tested the next-generation Face ID on glasses and masks to improve recognition in new use cases, Prosser said. The previous version of the scanning system did not perceive large glasses for doctors and skiing in general, and worked very indirectly with medical masks.Despite the fact that users managed to set up Face ID, covering their face with a half mask, in fact this did not provide adequate protection, because almost anyone with similar facial features and wearing a mask could deceive the sensors. However, in the new generation of Face ID, sensors will only rely on the upper part of the face, giving it more value than before.Among other things, Apple plans to teach Face ID to ignore fogging of glasses. For those who wear them, this was a big problem. As soon as we entered a warm room from the cold, the lenses were instantly covered with condensation and thawed for a few more minutes, so it was impossible to scan the face. In iPhone 13, this problem will most likely disappear.John Prosser is not sure if Apple will announce these Face ID innovations at the presentation, or indeed describe them in any way. It is very much in the spirit of the company - to improve the work of the existing technology, but to say nothing about it. Firstly, there will be fewer complaints if something goes wrong, and, secondly, users will be very happy when they find the changes themselves. As for the size of the recess, it will not decrease very significantly. If we start from the renders that Prosser and his colleagues in the shop publish, it becomes clear that we are talking about about a 30 percent reduction in size. The images show that Apple has changed the location of the sensors, moving the front-facing camera to the left edge and arranging the Face ID components together.
