Google
has announced that its AI assistant, Gemini, now utilizes the 2.0 Flash model
for all users. Previously available in experimental mode, this Large Language
Model (LLM) is now stable and accessible via both the web and Android
applications. The 2.0 Flash model enhances the previous versions, Flash 1.5 and
Pro 1.5, offering faster performance, with certain benchmarks indicating a
doubling of speed. According to Gemini, Flash 2.0 is ideal for daily tasks,
providing improved performance, quicker time to first token (TTFT), multimodal
understanding, coding capabilities, adeptness at following complex
instructions, and functionality calling. Paying Gemini Advanced users will
continue to have access to a 1 million token context window, up to 1,500 pages of
file uploads, and priority access to features like Deep Research and Gems.
While Gemini 2.0 Flash is now the default model for new conversations, Google
has confirmed that it will maintain 1.5 Flash and 1.5 Pro in existing ones for
the next few weeks.
